Salami products recalled due to Salmonella link

Products recalled were distributed to provinces including B.C.

Canada Health released a public notice of a Salmonella infections outbreak that is linked to multiple brands of salami and cacciatore products.

The department is instructing Canadians to “not consume, use, sell, serve or distribute recalled salami and cacciatore products.” According to Canada Health, over 65 products have been recalled, 87 total illnesses have been recorded in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba and Ontario. There are nine hospitalizations.

There’s been recall warning issued to these various salami and cacciatore product brands:

  • Bona
  • Cosmo’s Smoked Meats
  • Imperial Meats
  • Longos
  • Luc’s European Meats Cheese & Eats
  • Marini Salumi
  • Naturissimo
  • P&E Foods
  • Rea
  • Speziale Fine Foods
  • Superior Meats
  • T.J. Meats
  • Vince’s Cured Meats Corp.

According to Canada Health, these brands were distributed to grocery stores, specialty markets, restaurants and cafes, delis and butcher shops. The recalled products were distributed to Alberta, B.C., Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec.

Findings from the food safety inspection prompted these warnings.

The investigation is still ongoing.
