On Thursday, July 24, expect parts of Hudson St. to be closed from 2 p.m. – 11 p.m. (Shuswap St. – McLeod) and 4 p.m. – 11 p.m. (McLeod St – Alexander) for the Roots and Blues free kickoff concert.
The City of Salmon Arm is urging people to plan ahead as The Roots and Blues Tuned Up Concert Series begins with the Jazz Implication performed Tuesday morning at the Ross Street Plaza. On Wednesday, Sing ‘n’ Uke played at the plaza at 11:45 a.m.
And the countdown has officially begun towards the 33rd annual festival this weekend.
Meanwhile, the Salmon Arm RCMP have coordinated with the festival organizers and will be present on-site at the Roots and Blues Music Festival on the weekend.
“Attendees can expect to see a consistent police presence, conducting foot patrols throughout the festival grounds over each of the days.” said Cst. Andrew Hodges.
He added that the team will ensure everyone is enjoying the festival safely.
“Salmon Arm RCMP will also be actively checking for impaired drivers throughout each of the nights with traffics stops, and check stops,” Hodges said.
