Know before you go: Sicamous R.W. Bruhn Bridge construction update

The District of Sicamous has updated their R.W. Bruhn Bridge construction progress that could affect traffic during the long weekend.
There will be no single-lane-alternating traffic from 6 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 through to Monday, Aug. 4 on Highway 1 between Old Sicamous Rd and Solsqua-Sicamous Rd.
Single lane alternating traffic should resume at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 according to DriveBC.
Pedestrian access to the Beach Park via the walkway under the bridge will be open from noon on Friday to Tuesday morning at 7 a.m.
Sicamous Ferry Society is providing daytime access to the Beach Park (when walkway is closed), and the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail.
According to DriveBC, Highway 1 between Old Sicamous Rd and Solsqua-Sicamous Rd for 2 km will remain closed for construction from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 am on weekdays and Saturdays. The next update will be in six days.
This is a four-laning project for Highway 1 which included an approximate 1.9 km replacement if the existing R.W. Bruhn Bridge with a new four-lane bridge and intersection improvements.
DriveBC reminds motorists that despite closures not in effect, there is an active construction zone, saying, “Please slow down and stay alert.”
