Local golfer to represent Canada at international tourney

DJ Crowe will compete at the Jack Newton Junior Golf Tournament in Australia.

Armstrong golfer, DJ Crowe, has won the Maple Leaf Junior Tour and will represent Canada at the Jack Newton Junior Golf tournament in Australia in September.

This win has qualified him to play with the Maple Leaf Junior Tour Team Canada.

His father, Jesse Crowe said his son has been swinging golf clubs since he was little.

“He started with a club in his hand when he was roughly two years old, just whacking balls in the backyard,” he said.

Crowe is not only DJ’s father, but he is also DJ’s coach.

“I try to help him when his game is a little bit off,” Crowe said. “It’s an interesting dynamic because we have our father-son relationship and have our player-coach relationship.”

Crowe has years of golfing experience, with recently winning the 97th Annual Spalding Cup at the Salmon Arm Country Club. He added that it’s been special watching his son grow and develop.

“I couldn’t be happier about it, really, it’s super exciting to see him continue to get better every day.”
