Falkland moving to stage 3 water restrictions

Falkland is moving to stage 3 water restrictions immediately which will affect the usage of water sprinklers.

People are now allowed to use sprinklers one day per week for a maximum of three hours between 6 p.m. and 10 a.m.

Falkland has already been under the stage 2 water restrictions since July 25, 2025, but due to increasing drought conditions, and the very low levels of the Salmon River, the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD), water restrictions have tightened.

Watering days will depend on residents’ addresses. Odd numbered addresses can water on Saturdays and even-numbered addresses can water on Sunday.

All water usage will be monitored by the CSRD and staff will conduct patrols to find residents who have violated the water restriction bylaw.

The CSRD recommends other ways to preserve and make the most of water usage, by limiting car washes, shortening shower time and turning off taps as much as possible.

They’ve also created a water conservation guide to provide information on water use and conservation strategies.
