Usually, receiving a ticket from the RCMP isn’t the greatest feeling and it usually means you’ve done something wrong, but for local Golden youth, it now could mean you’ve done something right.
The Golden RCMP has announced their Positive Ticket Program that encourages local youth to make meaningful contributions to their town.
Their team have already started to hand out tickets to people who are making positive choices and are contributing to their community.
Youth who are recognized for their good deeds won’t just be recognized by the ticket, but they’ll also receive a small reward such a coupons to local fast food restaurants. These rewards are provided by community members and local businesses who are supporting this program.
The ticket says “You’ve been caught doing the right thing”, where the officer’s name will be written down, along with the positive behaviour that was observed.
The Golden RCMP reached out to public for feedback in August, where they received a lot of supportive feedback. Just as few weeks later, the program successful launched.
The RCMP hope that more youth in the Golden-Field community are excited about the program. They said to keep an eye out because “you never know when a positive action might earn you a ticket.”
