Man dead after fatal collision in Salmon Arm

A man has died from a cardiac arrest after being struck by a vehicle on the Trans Canada Highway, east of 10th Ave. SW in Salmon Arm early this morning, Sept. 15

The man was hit by a car driving eastbound and was treated on the scene by emergency services before being pronounced dead. According to police, the man was not believed to be local to Salmon Arm.

The driver of the vehicle stayed on scene and was cooperative. Police said impairment is not suspected to be a factor.

The Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) is assisting with the investigation and anyone who may have witnessed this incident, have dash camera footage from the area, or have any information and have not provided a statement to police are asked to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP.

This section of the highway was closed off with a detour and flaggers set up.
