Revelstoke part of Interchange Recycling upgrades

Interchange Recycling has been upgrading their site in Revelstoke over the past three months to provide residents with options for disposing used oil and related materials.

They are a provincial, non-for-profit organizations that collects and recycles used motor oil, oil filters and containers, used antifreeze and its containers. This organization is also expanding their sites with two new oil recycling depots in Likely and Radium Hot Springs.

The upgraded collection site in Revelstoke includes and a 10-ft and 20-ft sea container with a 1,1000-litre tank and two drums at their landfill with the purpose of collecting used oil and materials in a safe manner. The landfill in Sicamous also has this installation. The organization announced its upgraded infrastructure earlier in August.

Graham Cassleman, waste reduction coordinator for the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) said that the new upgrade and increased capacity allows them to ‘serve our community better. We urge everyone to take advantage of the service by dropping off their used oil and associated products.”

According to Interchange Recycling, they’ve collected over 47.5 million litres of used oil in B.C. They said that used oil can be re-refined into new lubricating oil or material inputs for manufacturing or energy products.
