Memorial service scheduled for former Fire Chief Brett Ogino

The District of Sicamous had announced the date and time for the memorial service for former Fire Chief, Brett Ogino, who passed away on Aug. 20, 2025.

The procession will begin at 2 p.m. on Oct. 5, on Main Street (Shuswap Ave), with the service following at Eagle River Secondary School.

Ogino served 28 years with the fire department and the service will pay tribute to him and his dedication to keep his community safe.

Throughout his career, he won several awards, including the Emergency Management B.C. award in 2018 and the B.C. Long Service Medal, recognizing 25 years of service with the fire department. He responded to some of the largest wildfires in the province.

It is recommended that attendees arrive on foot, if the weather permits, as their is limited parking at the high school.
