Sicamous locals to expect water disruptions today

Some Sicamous residents will experience water disruptions today as the next steps of the Riverside Avenue watermain replacement projects continues.

Residents can expect interruptions on Sept. 25 between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Riverside Avenue from Martine Street to Temple Street, as well as 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. on Temple Street from Riverside Avenue to Shuswap Avenue.

The District said the next steps in the project will involve valve testing, which is major to their critical infrastructure upgrade.

Signs will be placed throughout the neighbourhoods, and their team is already reaching out directly to affected households.

The District started their site mobilization in late August. They are replacing a 50 year old watermain, the replacement of around 270 metres of waterline, sidewalks and roadways. The waterline used to be six inches, but will be upgraded to 10 inches.

This will improve and increase reliable fire flow to the Sicamous community, according to the District.
