CSRD fire crew second day fighting Peachland wildfire

A fire crew from the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) remain on scene fighting the Munro Lake Wildfire today.

The crew responded to call on Thursday, Sept. 25, to help Peachland fight the blaze that grew quickly and was moving closer to homes.

The CSRD wishes Warren Gray from the Anglemont Fire Department, Ryan Anderson and Walter Singer from the Shuswap Fire Department, and Kyler Banks from the Falkland Fire Department a safe time fighting the fire.

The blaze has triggered three evacuation alerts and two evacuation orders. Approximately 325 properties are on evacuation order.

Peachland and the Regional District of Central Okanagan provided an update on Sept, 26 at 9:36 a.m. that the fire is now estimated at 220 hectares, and that crews are continuing to mitigate the fire today.

“All Evacuation Orders and Alerts remain in place at this time.” the District said.
