Many events are taking place this week to honour Truth and Reconciliation in the Shuswap and neighbouring regions.
There will be a film screening tonight, Sept. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the Song Sparrow Hall in Salmon Arm that will look into the history of the Kamloops Indian Residential School.
In Sicamous, there will be a community gathering at the Red Carn Arts Centre on Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. There will be storytelling, a sharing circle and a blanket exercise.
The Village of Chase are inviting people to join their community gathering tomorrow, Sept. 30 at 11 a.m. at the Chief Jules Drive ALIB Gym.
In Enderby, there will be a walk and gathering event hosted by the Splatsin Monument Committee at tomorrow, Sept. 30 at 10 a.m. at the Enderby Chamber of Commerce. The walk will finish at the Splatsin Community Centre, and a social gathering will follow.
Later in October, the Child Care and Resource & Referral and Shuswap Children’s Association will be hosting a Truth and Reconciliation Workshop at the Rise Up Indigenous Wellness. This event will take place on Oct. 16 at 6 p.m.
