“Several days saw over 300 people use the trail. The Society hopes to raise new funds to resume the service again next year,” said the district in their release.
The free ferry service took passengers to Km. 0.5 of the Rail trail and to Sicamous Beach. Local volunteers and business sponsors allowed the ferry to run until the end of September.
The CSRD said public access for walking and bicycling along this section of the Rail Trail is now limited significantly. They have warned future users of the trail that their will be no winter maintenance, and that all visitors must use caution, keep out of construction equipment and to obey all signs.
Full access from Sicamous to the Rail trail will not be completed until 2027.
Instructions on parking, and how to access the trails can be found on the CSRD website.
