The Salmon Arm Silverbacks bring home two wins over their busy weekend.
On Oct. 10, the ‘Backs headed to the island to play against the Nanaimo Clippers, where they won 4-1. Jaden Johnson, Anthony Cardilli, Tanner Walos and Keifer Miller all scored points that led to the team’s victory.
The team then headed to the Abbotsford Centre for the BCHL showcase, playing two games. The ‘Backs suffered a loss against the Victoria Grizzlies, losing 0-5. The first period ended with the Gizzlies leading by one, but when the third period came around, they scored their next four goals.
After the tough loss, the ‘Backs headed to the ice once more to go head-to-head with the Powell River Kings at the Abbotsford Centre for Day 2 of the showcase. The ‘Backs claimed victory with a 4-3 win. Scott Miner, Liam Bursaw, Luke Lepper and Luke Sinclair all scored goals that led to their win. The Silverbacks said their goalie, Marverick Avent, made 27 saves in his first BCHL win.
The Silverbacks will return home for their next game this weekend, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. to play against the Vernon Vipers at Rogers Rink.
