Hosted by the Salmon Arm Pride Project, the Loud and Proud Celebration kicks off today and continues throughout the weekend.
Starting at 4 p.m. Friday, the doors will open at the Sing Sparrow Hall, where pop-up shops and the Yukon Smash will welcome visitors. Starting at 5 p.m., the concerts will begin, featuring Hot Dyke Party as the headliner. Kristy Bird Smith & Csetskwe, Running with Pianos and Jade the Babe will perform as well.
On Saturday, Oct. 18, the party will start earlier at noon, with DJ Congo performing. Workshops will also take place, which will include book tasting, ceramic painting, screen printing, and more. Then, at 5 p.m., there will be a DJ dance party with Percusshunkidd, Miss Demeanour, Heat Source, Wordzsmith and Drag Performer LMNO.
On Sunday, Oct. 19, floors will open at 10:30 a.m. for pancakes and mimosas. Following that will be a drag show at 11 a.m. featuring Freida Whales and the Pod, Sophonda, Wanda Lust, Mr. Shellfish, Jovian, Jack Rabbit, BMX Ricky and Miss Match.
Tickets are by donation, and all ages are welcome.
