Man missing for 8 months, RCMP still searching

The Salmon Arm RCMP are continuing their search for Derrick Wesley Ryde, 34, who has been missing since Feb. 28, 2025.

Police said Ryde is an avid outdoorsman and it is not uncommon for him to camp off grid for one to two weeks at a time.

“Derrick has a tattoo of a pair of red dice on his chest and usually wears Carhartt clothing, a blue long sleeve shirt and a black leather jacket with aviator style glasses,” Constable Andrew Hodges of the Salmon Arm RCMP stated.

Police said Ryde is described as:

  • 6’5 tall
  • 160 lbs
  • Blonde hair
  • Dark blue eyes
  • Short or long facial hair
  • Clean shaven

An extensive search of the last known area of Ryde when he was reported missing was conducted by RCMP, Search and Rescue and volunteers in the area of Grandview Bench and Edgar Road.

Police are asking anyone with information on his whereabouts to contact the Salmon Arm RCMP non-emergency line at 250-832-6044 or Crime Stoppers.

Two photos of Ryde — one with short hair and one with long — were provided by the Salmon Arm RCMP.
