Construction underway on Scotch Creek Fire Hall

Scotch Creek Fire Hall is heading for an upgrade as the Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) announces they are kicking off construction on the rebuild.

The new Scotch Creek and Lee Creek Fire Hall will be located at 1435 Beatty Road. The structure will include space for fire trucks and gear storage. The building will also boast a training room and will be a larger site, offering better access for vehicles.

The fire hall was located at 3852 Squilax Anglemont Road before it was burned down by the Bush Creek East wildfire.

“It’s deeply meaningful to get this project to the start of construction. It’s another important step in rebuilding and it’s a tangible sign of the North Shuswap’s strength and resilience,” Derek Sutherland, the CSRD’s general manager, Community and Protective Services, said.

Liberty Construction Group will be working on this project. They have constructed more than 30 fire hall projects but noted this one “hit differently” because of the close company connections to the North Shuswap and the loss of the previous hall.

“Every trade partner on the project is from the Shuswap region, bringing local knowledge, pride, and a determination to deliver something worthy of the community,” Kevin Kinakin, director of Projects for Liberty Contract Management, said.

Kinakin added that they are starting to find practical cost-saving and value-engineering solutions. “They are eager to get to work… We know the community looks forward to a hall built not only with skill, but with heart.”

Completion of construction is scheduled for August 2026.
