Snowfall warning issued on Highway 1 from Sicamous to Revelstoke

Are you travelling to Revelstoke this weekend?

A “yellow” warning has been issued for Highway 1 from Sicamous to Revelstoke from Friday, Dec. 5, to Saturday, Dec. 6. A “yellow” warning means the impact level from the snowfall will be “moderate”.

Environment Canada said that most of the snow will be focused around Malakwa and Sicamous, with accumulations possibly reaching 20 cm by Saturday morning. 10 to 15 cm is expected for Revelstoke.

“A frontal system combined with colder temperatures will bring snow to West Columbia and eastern sections of Shuswap beginning midday today and easing Friday overnight,” read their announcement.

Environment Canada is advising drivers to prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions and allow extra time for travel.
