Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward bids farewell

Salmon Arm Silverbacks Maddux Martin is moving on from the team as he prepares to flip to the new chapter in his hockey career.

“Salmon Arm will always be home for me. I have nothing but love for this city and the Silverbacks organization,” said Martin. “They gave me the opportunity to play four incredible seasons in front of my family, friends, and the community that raised me.”

Martin added the his move is simply about embracing a new experience as he enters his final year of junior hockey.

The Silverbacks Communication said Martin is concluding his four-season experience, skating in 179 regular-season games with a 41 goal – 58 assist – 99 point record.

“A key contributor throughout his junior career, Martin helped the Silverbacks reach back-to-back conference final appearances and proudly served as team captain for one season, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and fans alike,” they stated in their release.

“I also want to thank Tyler Shattock for believing in me from the very beginning. He is a big reason I’ve been able to get to where I am today, and I’ll always be grateful to him and the entire coaching staff in Salmon Arm. I take tremendous pride in this community and in what we’ve built together over the past four years. That’s something I’ll always look back on with pride. Truly the best fans in the BCHL,” Martin said.

Silverbacks head coach general manager, Tyler Shattock said Martin’s departure was something unexpected. “From both a personal and organizational standpoint, is something we didn’t want or expect to make.”

The team announced that in return, they welcome Landon Mackie from the Victoria Grizzlies.

Shattock added that Martin has been an integral part of the Silverbacks organization, serving as captain and participating in two conference final teams. The organization would like to thank Martin for his dedication to the Silverbacks, and wishes him all the best on his future endeavours.

“Good luck, Maddog.”
