Chase RCMP looking for suspect involved in arson

Chase RCMP is asking for public assistance in identifying a suspect on video surveillance who may be involved in two residential fires.

Police and the Chase Fire Department responded to a fire on Nov. 26, 2025 at the 500 Block of First Ave, sparking an arson investigation. Another fire at the same residence took place only four days later around the same time as the first suspicious fire.

“The Chase Fire Department contained and extinguished the fire. However, the residence sustained extensive damage and was deemed structurally compromised and no longer habitable,” Cst. Sarah Van Wilgenburg, Chase RCMP spokesperson said.

She added that approximately 10 animals were rescued from the home. The occupants and the animals received emergency assistance through the Emergency Support Services Program and the Canadian Red Cross.

“As part of the ongoing investigation, Chase RCMP have obtained a photograph of an individual of interest in the area of Pine Street and Shuswap Avenue at 1:30 a.m., shortly before the initial fire on Nov. 26,” Van Wilgenburg said.

The suspect is described as a male wearing a camouflage jacket, black Adidas runners with white stripes and he’s carrying a yellow gas can.

Police are asking anyone who is able to identify the person, or who may have seen him in the area at the time of the incident, to contact Chase RCMP.
