New transit shelters installed in Salmon Arm

The City of Salmon has partnered with BC Transit to install new transit shelters at three locations around town to accommodate more riders.

The City made an announcement online, saying that these new shelters are placed at 5 Ave. NE and 11 Ave. NE between Jackson School and the RCMP detachment.

The shelters received som feedback, with social media users sharing praise and concerns of the size and the bar running across the bench. Users said the roof is quite small and that the shelter could be more effective during the winter months if it was larger.

Other users were pleased to see the bar in the middle of the bench which would prevent people from sleeping there.

The structures include a newer design and were purchased and installed in partnership with the BC Transit Bus Shelter Program.
