Emergency repairs prompt water advisory in Enderby

Enderby residents must take precautions when drinking and using tap water due to emergency repairs at the city’s water treatment plant.

The City of Enderby drinking water system issued a precautionary water quality advisory starting March 2 at 12 p.m.

“While the repairs are proceeding, the City of Enderby will be reliant upon its back-up groundwater source, which only receives one form of disinfection (chlorination, without ultraviolet treatment),” the City said in the advisory.

The city urged residents with weakened immune systems, or those seeking additional protection, to take the following precautions when drinking water, washing fruit and vegetables, making beverages or ice, or brushing their teeth:

  • Boil water rapidly for at least one minute or use an alternate safe source of water.
  • Use a hand sanitizer after washing hands.

“Please help by informing others,” the city said.

The advisory will be in effect for three to five days, or until repairs are completed and the treatment plant has been returned to “potable status.”

Residents will be notified when the advisory is lifted.
