Air quality warning lifted in Enderby and Vernon

Environment Canada has lifted an air quality advisory for residents in Enderby, Mara, Armstrong and Vernon.

The advisory was issued at 3:04 a.m. March 4, stating stagnant winter weather conditions were creating elevated pollution levels.

Residents were asked to take precautions when going outdoors, especially infants, seniors, those with chronic conditions or respiratory infections and people who are pregnant.

The B.C. Ministry of Environment and Parks, in collaboration with Interior Health, said the advisory was due to elevated “coarse particulate matter.”

Despite the advisory being lifted, Environment Canada recommends anyone experiencing symptoms such as persistent eye or throat irritation, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, coughing or wheezing follow the advice of their health-care provider.
