The City of Enderby said a precautionary water advisory is expected to end Thursday, March 12
The water treatment plant returned to service and began supplying water to the system Sunday, March 8. The city said the move followed reduced cloudiness in the plant’s clearwell, clear results from bacteriological sampling and additional chlorine testing.
“After verifying that the Water Treatment Plant met required safety standards and Canadian Drinking Water Guidelines, it was reactivated,” the City said in their update.
The initial advisory was issued March 2 because of emergency repairs at the city’s plant. Although the repairs were completed, the advisory remained in place while the city worked to safely transition the system back to normal operations.
Residents with weakened immune systems, as well as those who are seeking additional protection are directed to boil water for at least one minute before drinking, brushing teeth, making ice or preparing food. They must also use hand sanitizer after washing hands, as well as use an alternate safe source of water if it is preferred.
Once the advisory is lifted, consumers who have been boiling their water may wish to run their cold water taps for three to five minutes, to help fully clear water from household plumbing systems.
The city said it will issue a final announcement March 12 to officially lift the advisory.
