Natalie Wilkie wins another gold for Team Canada

Salmon Arm, B.C., Paralympian Natalie Wilkie earned her second gold medal of the Milano Cortina 2026 Paralympic Winter Games on Friday in the women’s sprint pursuit standing event.

The victory marked Wilkie’s fourth medal of this year’s Games — two gold, one silver and one bronze. She finished in approximately 12:18.0, ahead of Ukraine’s Iryna Bui and Oleksandra Kononova.

“This used to be my most hated race format,” Wilkie told the Canadian Paralympic Committee (CPC). “After the qualifier today (3rd), I knew I had a good shot, and it was just a matter of putting it all together.”

Wilkie was also one of Canada’s two flag bearers at the opening ceremonies. She reflected on putting gold glitter on her face throughout the Games.

“The glitter reminds me that I’m here to have fun,” Wilkie told the CPC. “Both times I put on gold glitter, I won the race.”

Wilkie has now earned more than one-third of Canada’s total medals through Day 7 of the Paralympic Games.
