Sicamous supports forestry initiative

The District of Sicamous has announced its support for the Forestry Is a Solution initiative from the B.C. Council of Forest Industries.

The initiative is designed to help communities work together to communicate the province’s most urgent concerns to the provincial government. Forestry Is a Solution said the concerns include building affordable housing, reducing wildfire risk, supporting family-sustaining jobs and generating revenue to help fund public services.

There are four key priorities: expediting access to economic wood, improving competitiveness and cost certainty, fixing timber sales and supporting First Nations partnership.

The district provided residents an opportunity to show their support by completing a petition or sending a letter to their MLA.
