The City of Salmon Arm has received $70,500 in provincial funding through the 2026 Community Event Support Fund to support a local community celebration tied to the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The city made the announcement online and said the funding is part of a $1.7 million investment supporting 32 communities across B.C. to host free public events that bring people together through sport, culture and community.
Events across the province will feature live match viewings, soccer-themed activities, multicultural programming and local performers.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is also kicking off its “first-of-a-kind program,” touring communities across Canada. Activation will pop up in six towns across the province, including Salmon Arm on June 20.
Other cities include Revelstoke, Kamloops, Cranbrook, Nelson and Fort St. John.
