Enderby issues stage 1 watering restrictions starting in May

Enderby residents will have to limit their water use beginning in May.

The City of Enderby said its water conservation and drought response framework restricts water use from May 1 to Oct. 1 each year.

“This helps to decrease over-watering, water waste, and the related impact upon public infrastructure,” the city said in a statement.

The city reminded residents to ensure water is needed before watering lawns.

“Remember, just because it is your day to water, that does not mean that you must water your lawn,” it said.

Sprinkling is permitted for a maximum of two hours per day between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. and 9 p.m.

Properties with even-numbered civic addresses may water on even-numbered days. Properties with odd-numbered civic addresses may water on odd-numbered days.

The city said properties with automatic sprinkling systems may water between midnight and 6 a.m. on their assigned days.

Hand-watering on non-assigned days is permitted if a hand-held container or a hose with a shutoff device is used.
