Periodic closures of the Sicamous Narrows as R.W. Bruhn Bridge work progresses

More construction tied to the R.W. Bruhn Bridge project will bring additional closures to the Sicamous Narrows.

The District of Sicamous said overwater girder installation is scheduled to begin in mid-April and continue through mid-May.

The work will require closing the Sicamous Narrows beneath the bridge as well as the Finlayson Street boat launch.

Closures are expected to start April 13, though the district said timelines may change depending on weather and construction progress.

Each closure will begin at 8 a.m. and last about eight hours, or until work is finished. If weather prevents work on a scheduled day, it will proceed on the next suitable day.

Tentative closure dates are April 13, April 15, April 19, April 25 and May 1.

“This step forward represents a major milestone for the R.W. Bruhn Bridge and Approaches project,” the district said. “The project team has worked closely with a marine liaison committee to ensure that there is as much communication and as little interruption as possible while this important work is completed.”
