A 49-year-old man was arrested after allegedly spitting on a flagger during highway median cleaning.
Police said the victim reported a black BMW bypassed traffic by driving along the shoulder. Another vehicle then refused to let the BMW merge back into the line.
The flagger approached the BMW and took a photo of the licence plate. As he neared the passenger-side window, the man spat on him. Police said a witness corroborated the incident.
The suspect was later identified from the photo. Officers attended his residence and arrested him for assault. He was released later that day and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
