Rogers Rink to receive new lights

Upgrades are planned to improve lighting at Rogers Rink, enhancing visibility and usability.

Salmon Arm council unanimously approved awarding the rink’s spectator lighting upgrade to Inskip Electric.

In a request for decision submitted by city staff earlier in April, the report said lighting measurements showed some areas of the ice had very low lighting.

“Staff have been reviewing desirable lighting options for the facility to meet required regulations, enhance user experience and potentially expand community services through the hosting of additional events,” the request said.

The proposal aims to replace the aging and unsupported LED lighting system with a modern solution that delivers both performance and flexibility.

The city said the budget for the lighting upgrade is $420,000. The Inskip Electric quote is $407,646.50.
