Kelowna RCMP have arrested a man from Salmon Arm following reports of several break and enters at local businesses.
Mounties said they responded to a report of a break-in at an automotive shop in the 1700-block of Harvey Avenue in Kelowna on April 15. Property was allegedly stolen from a vehicle in the shop for servicing. Later that afternoon, officers arrested the suspect, Gary Gadawski, of Salmon Arm, who appeared in court and was released the following day with conditions.
RCMP have charged Gadawski with four counts of break and enter and theft and one count of failure to comply with a release order.
Mounties said Gadawski remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on April 29, 2026.
“Property crime, particularly break-ins targeting local businesses, remains a priority for the Kelowna RCMP,” Corporal Steven Lang, Kelowna RCMP media relations officer said. “Through quality investigative work and coordination between our proactive enforcement unit and frontline officers, police were able to identify and arrest an individual who is allegedly responsible for targeting members of the business community.”
Gadawski is not unfamiliar to RCMP as he was also arrested in early January of this year. On Jan. 2, Sicamous RCMP received information that a man was inside a residence in the 500 block of Spruce Street which was contrary to his release conations.
On Dec. 31, Sicamous RCMP had arrested the man, who turned out to be Gadawski and released him on several conditions in relation to an alleged assault that took place on that date. Conditions included not to attend to the residence and to have no contact with the victim.
Police entered the home Jan. 2 and arrested Gadawski who was found hiding in a closet. Gadawski was charged with several offences including assault, uttering threats and two counts of failing to comply with the release conations of an undertaking.
