The City of Salmon Arm has announced Category 2 and Category 3 open-fire bans will take effect Thursday, May 7.
The city said residents are prohibited from using fireworks, burn barrels or cages, binary exploding targets, air curtain burners, carbonizers and controlled-air incinerators.
Category 1 campfires are still permitted, but the city said extreme caution is strongly encouraged because of unseasonably warm temperatures and an elevated wildfire risk.
Residents are reminded never to leave campfires unattended and to ensure they are fully extinguished after use.
Campfire permits cost $10 and are available at city hall.
The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until Oct. 19 unless lifted earlier.
