“Extremely intoxicated” driver prohibited from driving

A driver found operating a vehicle while intoxicated has been given a 90-day driving prohibition.

Salmon Arm RCMP said officers on patrol observed a white truck towing a trailer swerving on 20th Street NE at about 11 p.m.

Police conducted a traffic stop to check the driver’s licence and sobriety. RCMP said the passenger exited the vehicle and appeared extremely intoxicated.

Police said a breath demand was made to the driver, who allegedly refused to provide a suitable breath sample after nine attempts.

The driver was issued an Immediate Roadside Prohibition that included a 30-day vehicle impoundment and a 90-day driving prohibition.
