Salmon Arm Tennis Club to host two Women’s Doubles Clinics this summer

The Salmon Arm Tennis Club is hosting two women’s doubles clinics this summer to give women and girls an opportunity to play tennis in the community.

The club announced June 11 that it had received a “Game. Set. Equity.” Community Tennis Grant presented by National Bank for a second consecutive year.

The clinics are designed for players looking to improve their understanding of doubles strategy and tactics.

“Through engaging drills, situational point play, tactical and technical instruction and coached match play, participants will develop the skills and confidence needed to become more effective doubles players,” the announcement said.

Organizers said each clinic is limited to 12 players and will maintain a four-to-one player-to-coach ratio to ensure a high-quality learning experience.

The clinic will be led entirely by female instructors, including lead coach Wallis Thomson.

The club said Thomson is a certified club professional with more than 1,500 hours of on-court coaching experience.

She has coached at the Salmon Arm Tennis Club, Tennis Yukon and Tennis for Life in Coquitlam, B.C.

“She is passionate about creating engaging sessions that focus on skill development, confidence building, and having fun on the court,” the announcement said.

The club said space is limited and registration is required. Interested participants can sign up through the club’s website.
