Salmon Arm to implement Stage 2 water restrictions June 24

The City of Salmon Arm has announced that Stage 2 water restrictions will take effect June 24 in response to drought conditions in surrounding areas.

Officials made the announcement June 16, citing declining lake levels and low river flows throughout the Shuswap region.

Starting June 24, residents must reduce outdoor watering from three days a week to two days a week as part of the city’s ongoing efforts to conserve water during the summer months.

The city provided the following watering schedule online:

Group A: Addresses ending in 00-33 may water on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Group B: Addresses ending in 34-66 may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Group C: Addresses ending in 67-99 may water on Sundays and Thursdays.

Irrigation is permitted for a maximum of two hours on designated days and is prohibited between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.

The city encourages residents to conserve water whenever possible to help protect the local water supply throughout the summer.
