Stage 2 water restrictions are in effect today in Salmon Arm, requiring residents to further reduce water consumption.
The City of Salmon Arm implemented the restrictions in response to drought conditions in surrounding areas, declining lake levels and low river flows throughout the Shuswap region.
Under the restrictions, outdoor watering is reduced from three days a week to two days a week. Residents’ designated watering days depend on their home address.
Group A, with addresses ending in 00-33, may water on Tuesdays and Fridays. Group B, with addresses ending in 34-66, may water on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Group C, with addresses ending in 67-99, may water on Sundays and Thursdays.
Irrigation is permitted for a maximum of two hours on designated watering days. It is not permitted between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m.
The city encouraged residents to conserve water whenever possible to help protect the local water supply throughout the summer.
