Salmon Arm resident dead following home invasion on Friday

One person is dead following a home invasion at a Salmon Arm home on Friday night.

Police said that at approximately 6:35 p.m. on July 17, the vehicle believed to have been involved in the homicide was found burned in the Glenemma Trailhead parking lot within Kelly Mountain Recreation Site, which is accessed via Yankee Flats Road and Mactavish Road.

Investigators determined that three suspects, believed to be two men and one woman, entered the residence. During the incident, an altercation occurred and one resident sustained a gunshot wound.

Police said the victim later died from their injuries.

Investigators believe the suspects fled in a black Chrysler 300 sedan. The vehicle was described as having three matching wheels, a solid steel wheel on the rear passenger side and a sunroof.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident, who saw the suspect vehicle before it was abandoned or who has dash camera or surveillance footage to contact Salmon Arm RCMP.

Anyone who sees the suspects is asked not to approach them and to call 911 immediately.

The investigation is ongoing.
