Wildfire prompts evacuation alert near Revelstoke

The City of Revelstoke has issued an evacuation alert for the Fish River Road and Incomappleux River Forest Service Road areas due to a wildfire.

People in the affected areas should be prepared to leave on short notice if an evacuation order is issued.

Anyone under the alert is advised to locate family and household members and choose a meeting place outside the affected area.

Residents should also pack essential items, including identification, medication and important insurance documents, and make transportation arrangements. Anyone planning to leave by vehicle should make sure it has enough fuel.

People are encouraged to arrange accommodation with family or friends where possible, as other accommodation may be limited.

Residents should also be prepared to help children, people with disabilities and neighbours who need assistance, and make arrangements for pets and livestock.

The status of evacuation alerts can change quickly. Residents should monitor official emergency information for updates.
