Anglemont residents to experience water outages

Anglemont residents will experience temporary water service disruptions beginning Monday, Sept. 28 until the end of November.

The Columbia Shuswap Regional District (CSRD) made an announcement over the weekend saying this is part of an annual project plan to proactively replace aging water infrastructure in the area.

Local temporary water shutdowns will be required to complete the work.

The CSRD residents will receive hand-delivered, written notices at least 24 hours in advance of any water service interruptions.

Water system users are advised to store enough water to exceed their needs during the time period.

The CSRD said the having extra water for flushing the toilet is recommended as the households will have one more flush before they have no more water the tank. Washing machines will not work as well.

Officials said residents may notice discoloration from sediment in the water system once service is restored.

Discoloured water comes from sediment getting stirred up when the water is turned on after an outage.

“This discolouration is not harmful, as the water has been disinfected,” officials said.

Air may also be present in piping. Running a garden hose or cold water bathtub faucet for several minutes should eliminate both air and discoloration.
