Silverbacks coach anticipates busy upcoming season

The upcoming season for the Salmon Arm Silverbacks is closely approaching.

Head coach and general manager, Tyler Shattock, said so far the camps have been filled with high energy, and he is excited to have new faces around the rink, as well as seven players returning to the team.

“The rest of the guys will be new faces … it’ll kind of be a fresh start for us here this year.”

In the upcoming months, Shattock plans to get to know their personnel and the players so that the team can strategize how they will play.

“I think our challenge as a group is to get back to where we were the previous season and take that next step of winning here in Salmon Arm,” he said.

Shattock added that two of his newest hires, Kevin Davis and Kevin Heise will be a great addition to the team. Davis is the assistant coach and will run the defence core. Heise is the new trainer and equipment manager for the team. Shattock said both will compliment the team well and he said both are great and genuine people.

The Silverbacks will play their first exhibition game on Sept. 5 at 7:00 p.m. against the West Kelowna Warriors at Rogers Rink in Salmon Arm.
