After two weeks since the bird strike at Chase’s water treatment plant, the village’s water advisory has been lifted.
The Village of Chase announced that residents can now resume their normal water usage.
On Wednesday morning, Aug. 13, a bird strike caused the communication at Chase’s water treatment plant to be disabled and therefore shut down their ability to pump water.
The Village of Chase was prompting residents to reduce their water consumption immediately.
They were also asking the public to conserve as much water wherever possible. An alert was sent out as a precautionary measure to ensure the continued availability of safe drinking water and to manage potential strain on the water supply system.
A day later, Interior Health B.C. advised residents to be mindful with how much water they use, as the Village was relying on their back-up pump at the time.
Now, residents can resume their normal water use, as the water advisory has been lifted. The Village of Chase said they appreciate the town’s patience and cooperation.
