Clayton Allen appointed Sicamous fire chief

Clayton Allen, leader of the Sicamous Fire Department and long-standing member of the community, has been appointed fire chief for the District of Sicamous.

“I am honoured and humbled to accept the position of fire chief,” Allen said. “To my firefighters, thank you for your dedication and trust. To our community, I promise to uphold the values that keep us safe and strong.”

Allen began with the Sicamous Fire Department in 1998, and he then became deputy fire chief in 2003. The District of Sicamous said he played a key role in mentoring generations of firefighters in the community.

Sicamous Mayor Colleen Anderson said she is very grateful that he chose to accept the role as fire chief.

“Clayton’s dedication and commitment to our community have been recognized by his peers, his fire team, the District of Sicamous, and our residents. Congratulations, Clayton – we know our community is in great hands and look forward to working with you.” said Anderson.

The District said Allen has extensive experience in leadership, through officer oversight, fire inspections and essential departmental operations.

CAO Dan Strachan said he is looking forward to working with Allen. “His focus on service delivery and the training and development of the paid-on-call team will serve our community well,” Strachan said.

Strachan continued saying he is anticipating success from Allen in providing a strong emergency service for Sicamous.

Allen will step into the full-time role on Nov. 24.
