Holiday work stoppage on R.W. Bruhn Bridge project

The District of Sicamous announced that work on the R.W. Bruhn Bridge project has paused for the holiday season.

Closures at the construction site began at 12 p.m. on Dec. 19, with no work scheduled to resume until Jan. 5.

The Highway 1 four-laning project includes approximately 1.9 km of replacement of the existing Bruhn Bridge. Pedestrian access to Sicamous Beach park using the walkway under the bridge is closed 24/7 for construction until further notice.

DriveBC said the existing bridge sidewalk is closed and pedestrians will need to use a shuttle to cross the bridge.

From Dec. 21 until Jan. 10. 2026, the bridge will be open in both directions.
