The BC SPCA Shuswap branch set a new record for animal adoptions in 2025, finding homes for 419 animals — surpassing its previous record of 400.

In an online post announcing the milestone, the shelter also noted it donated more than 2,700 kilograms of dog kibble and 1,000 kilograms of cat kibble to support pets in need in the community.

According to the BC SPCA Shuswap, the 2025 adoptions included 232 cats, 167 dogs, three rabbits, three guinea pigs, one hamster, one gerbil, four chinchillas, eight birds and one fish.

“We are so grateful for our incredible community,” read their post. “Thank you for helping make so many happy endings possible.”

A comment on the post included a picture of one of the rabbits adopted reading, “Thank you for bring Samson into our lives in 2025.”
