Yard waste pickup ahead for Sicamous

Residents will be able to dispose of yard waste and other items during a free, two-day curbside pickup event.

In a statement, the District of Sicamous said, “spring has arrived in Sicamous, and with it comes the annual tradition of clearing out the old and making space for the season ahead.”

Residents are asked not to include auto bodies or parts, toxic waste, batteries or commercial household waste.

Pickup of unwanted metal materials such as hot water tanks, stoves, washers, dryers, fridges and freezers will take place May 4. Organic waste will be picked up the next day.

Residents who want to include grass clippings, leaves, pruning and weeds are asked to place them in clear garbage bags.

The district said items should be placed at the end of the driveway by 7 a.m.
