Beating the heat: cooling centres open up in Chase

The Village of Chase is inviting the public to beat the heat by visiting one of its cooling centres.

Environment Canada has issued heat warnings for much of B.C., including the Shuswap, with temperatures expected to reach the mid- to high 30s throughout the week.

The village said cooling centres will be available at the Chase Library, 614 Shuswap Ave., and the Chase Creekside Seniors Centre, 542 Shuswap Ave.

The Chase Library will be open as a cooling centre from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, and from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The Chase Creekside Seniors Centre will be open as a cooling centre from noon to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday.

The village also encouraged the public to cool off by visiting the wading pool at Centennial Park or the splash park at Memorial Park during the heat wave.
