UPDATE: Enderby water quality advisory extended indefinitely

The City of Enderby has extended the precautionary water quality advisory until further notice.

A water quality advisory was issued on March 2 due to emergency repairs needing to be done. While those repairs to the Water Treatment Plant have been successfully completed since then, the advisory remains in place as the City works to transition the system back to normal operations safely.

“The refilling process caused an increase in turbidity (cloudiness) to the clearwell water. As turbidity interferes with treatment processes, it must be reduced to assure that only safe drinking water enters the system,” the City said in its update.

The city said they are following a strict safety protocol to return the system to full service which includes settling and testing, returning to normal operations and then system turnover.

Until the advisory is officially lifted, users with weakened immune systems or those seeking additional protection should continue to:

• Boil water rapidly for at least one minute for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice or food preparation.

• Use hand sanitizer after washing hands.

• Use an alternate safe source of water if preferred.
The next update will be provided on Monday, March 9.
