Enderby encouraging residents to support province-wide forestry campaign

The City of Enderby has endorsed the B.C. Council of Forest Industries’ “Forestry Is a Solution” campaign and is encouraging the province and residents to support the industry.

The BC Natural Resources Forum (NRF), an association of forestry workers, community leaders and industry representatives launched the new province-wide platform earlier this year.

The campaign asks British Columbians to voice their support for workers and families who depend on the forestry sector.

It outlines four key priorities for action:

  • Speed up access to economic wood by expediting permits and approvals.
  • Improve competitiveness by reducing administrative and regulatory burdens.
  • Fix BC Timber Sales to ensure a reliable and competitive supply of logs for mills and secondary manufacturing.
  • Support First Nations partnerships with the tools and capacity needed to expedite referrals and increase revenue sharing.

In a statement, the association said forestry is a strategic asset for everyone in B.C.

“We are calling on the government to provide a clear path forward that allows this industry to reach its full potential as a provider of low-carbon building materials and a backbone of our provincial economy.”

The City of Enderby is encouraging community members to learn more and sign the petition insupportable of the province’s forest sector.
