Splatsin Homes builds benches to honour history along the Rail Trail

Enderby residents and visitors can now sit while honouring history, as Splatsin Homes has completed the construction of benches made from reclaimed wood.

Splatsin Homes assembled a series of handcrafted benches using reclaimed wood from the historic Baxter Bridge in Ashton Creek.

In a statement, Splatsin said the benches carry both history and meaning, giving new life to materials from an important local landmark.

The benches are now being prepared for installation throughout the community. In total, 12 benches will be placed along the Rail Trail, at Ashton Creek Community Hall and at Splatsin Daycare. Two benches have already been placed at the Splatsin Community Centre, and one more bench will be installed at a “special location coming soon.”

“This project reflects a commitment to sustainability, storytelling, and creating welcoming spaces for community members to gather, rest, and reflect,” Splatsin said.

The organization is inviting people to take a moment to stop, sit and connect with the benches’ history.
